PLAYING THIS FRIDAY AT 6PM. BELLINGEN. $20 DINNER AND SHOW.
One enormous project that has been underway at UQ and several other Halls of Academia is one by the name of AUSTLIT. The site tells us this:
I am not actually writing about them either. Not in any Intellectual manner. I am inclined to honour them instead for their baking abilities. Dr Djubal arrived at The Cottage on The Hill one fine day all the way from Brisbane and supposedly for a hard day’s work with Peter. He was, in fact, bringing SCONES. With cream and jam. The lads did appear to deal with some degree of business activity but the highlight was MORNING TEA. Peter is a BAGEL baker but failed to produce any on this occasion. BRAINY, BEAUTIFUL and gifted BAKERS.
Originally founded in Armidale (NSW) as S.T.D. Music, Hire and Promotion (1983) by Clay Djubal, Have Gravity Will Threaten (HGWT) is an independent specialist publisher of music, plays, poetry and images from writers, musicians, composers, bands and photographers who emerged out of the New England region of New South Wales during the ‘pub rock’ era of the 1970s and 1980s. After being based in Sydney during the mid- late 1980s HGWT was re-established in Stafford Heights (Brisbane) in 1993.
THURSDAY AFTERNOON and we are in the COTTAGE. THEY are rehearsing for GABI BLISS on SATURDAY.
THAT’S the poster. Been out sticking them up all over the place. Down at Panorama Plaza in the place of Rejection – Chick stuck ’em up and in bus shelters and on backs of loo doors because this weekend is the launch of REFLEXIONS. GABI BLISS is on the loose. Out on the FRONT PORCH with Evan on Lead, Izzy on bass and kazoo and Mike Fisher on drums. The Cottage sits on top of the Hill with the BILAMBIL VALLEY down there – amphitheatre like. Up here the new PA is set up. The DOS is out at lunch for the day. The Electric guitars are plugged in. Mike Fisher is here with his drums and the Final Rehearsal is on.
SATURDAY – BUDDHA BELLY CAFE AT UKI.
SEE YOU THERE.
Well the Bill just heard that mebbe Scrubby won’t be playing at the Club anymore. Looks like the Bill won’t be going down those Fridays. He likes the Scrub same as a whole lot of other people do. In fact O Fans of the Scrub and the Hillbillies – Why not give the Club a call and ask for the Scrub to come back. Some changes is good changes and some changes ain’t. The switch to Friday Nights is one thing. It is however , I am sure, meant to be an upgrade not a downgrade. Or even a sidewise grade.
BRING BACK OUR SCRUBBY !!!
